Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce that the Murphey Candler Marlins Swim Team will participate in the Summer 2021 Swim Season! We have been working diligently with the City of Brookhaven to plan a fun and safe season while following COVID -19 protocols. Our priority is the health and safety of our families and community.

BIG NEWS! The Murphey Candler Marlins Swim Team has joined the Atlanta Swim Association (ASA). Being a part of the ASA offers increased competition and allows the MC Marlins to compete against more swim teams. The variety of teams and swimmers will be a nice change. Meets will be held in the Brookhaven/Dunwoody area. The season will culminate with swimmers participating in the ASA Championship meet held at Georgia Tech.

Changes from previous seasons include:

• Practices will begin Monday, May 17th.
• The season will end by the end of June (unless swimmers qualify for the GRPA State meet.)
• A few morning practices per week will be available (if interested) at the Briarwood pool.
• Swim meets are scheduled for Tuesday evenings (unless meets are held virtually - TBD.)
• Registration fee $125 includes ASA membership fee, coaching, pool use for practices and meets, swim cap and team shirt.
• ASA requires many volunteers to run a home meet - parent volunteering will be mandatory. We can’t do it without you!

Still the same:

• Fun, laid-back culture encouraging learning strokes and celebrating personal best times.
• Awesome coaches and families.
• Practices on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. (Stay tuned for info regarding Saturday Morning clinics and am practice days/times/location).
• Participation requirement - all swimmers must be at least 5 years old and be able to swim the length of the pool.
• The Marlins and Barracudas will represent Brookhaven in the GRPA District and State Meets.
• Willingness to have fun and be a part of a wonderful team.

In keeping with our efforts to keep our community safe, swim practices, meets and procedures will be a bit different but all the fun will be the same if not better! Practices and meets will still be divided by age groups however, there is a limit of 35 people to the pool and deck (hopefully, the limit will increase by May).

To help you plan:

• The Murphey Candler Marlins 2021 Swim Season will be May 17 – June 30.
• Practices will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. (optional Saturday Morning clinics.)
• Meets will be on Tuesday evenings. (5/25, 6/1, 6/8, 6/15, 6/21)
• The GRPA District (6/19 at Briarwood) and ASA (6/26 at GA Tech) meets will be held in June.
• The GRPA State meet (for qualifying swimmers) will be held on July 16 & 17 (in Cumming).
• In order for us to host and run meets smoothly, parent volunteering is mandatory.
• Please register early as space will be limited.
